What does a remap actually do?
Your engine is controlled by a small computer, the ECU, running the settings it left the factory with. Those settings are deliberately cautious, because the same engine is sold in countries with worse fuel, worse servicing and hotter climates than ours. A Stage 1 remap rewrites those settings for the engine in front of us, so it delivers what it was built to deliver. No hardware changes, nothing bolted on.
How much is it?
£495 for a Stage 1 on any car or van. That's the price, not a starting price. Nothing gets added on the day.
Do you come to me?
Yes, that's how most of our jobs are done. We cover Shropshire, Mid Wales, Wrexham and Staffordshire from fully kitted vans. Ring by 2pm and, if you're within an hour of Shrewsbury, we can usually be with you the same day.
What's in the diagnostics?
A full diagnostic check of the vehicle before anything is mapped, on every job. You sign it off, and the report is stored in the cloud for good, so if anything ever comes up later there's a record of exactly how the vehicle was on the day.
Is it a generic file off the shelf?
No. We read your ECU, back up the original, and write the file for your engine there and then. We make remap software for other mappers across the UK, so it's what we do all day.
Is your software genuine?
Yes. Genuine licences on everything, no cloned tools. Cloned tools are the number one cause of bricked ECUs and we don't touch them.
Will the reg lookup work with a private plate?
Yes. We look up the DVLA vehicle record behind the registration, not the plate itself, so a private or cherished plate comes back as the right vehicle. If anything looks off you can pick it manually instead.
Do you do vans?
Yes, and plenty of them. Transits, Sprinters, Transporters, Crafters and pickups are a big part of our work. We know a van off the road costs you money, which is why same-day matters.
What warranty do I get?
A lifetime warranty on the map, and a proper invoice for the job. If anything with the software needs attention, we sort it.
Can it be reversed?
Yes. Your original map is kept and can be put back at any time.
Will it affect my fuel economy?
Driven normally, most turbo diesels see the same or slightly better economy after a Stage 1, because the engine makes its torque lower down and works less hard. Drive it hard and it'll use more, like any vehicle.
Do I need to tell my insurer?
Yes. A remap is a modification and you should declare it. Some insurers don't mind, some add a small premium. We'd rather you know that up front.
Do you sort AdBlue and EGR faults too?
Yes, it's a big part of what we do. AdBlue and EGR deletes are only for vehicles not used on public roads, so the expert will talk you through the right fix for yours on the call.
What about Stage 2, plant and agricultural?
All available. Stage 2 is for vehicles with hardware fitted, and we map plant and agricultural machinery too. Ask the expert on the call.
